For hotels, creating seamless, high-end and comfortable Spaces is not merely an aesthetic requirement, but also a core competitive advantage. Recently, we successfully completed the retractable ceiling lighting solution project for a four-star hotel in the city. This project combines stretched ceiling aluminum profiles, magnetic lamps and professional commercial lighting, solving the long-standing pain points of hotels in terms of ceiling aesthetics and lighting functions.
Project Requirements
The hotel was completed in 2018 and is now proposing a comprehensive renovation to enhance its brand image and improve the guest experience. The original ceiling and lighting system are outdated and cannot meet the needs of mid-to-high-end business travelers.
- Aesthetics: Eliminate the exposed pipes, wires and uneven surfaces on the original ceiling to create a seamless, simple and high-end ceiling effect, which is consistent with the hotel's four-star positioning and maintains a consistent style among guest rooms, corridors, lobbies and conference halls.
- Lighting function: Achieve layered lighting to meet different scenarios: soft ambient light for guest rooms, focused key light for lobby decoration, and bright and anti-glare task light for conference halls; At the same time, flexible lighting adjustment is required to meet the needs of different guests and event arrangements.
- Operational efficiency: Reduce long-term energy consumption and maintenance costs, replace old high-energy-consuming lighting with energy-saving products, and ensure that the ceiling lighting system is easy to clean, maintain and upgrade.
After on-site investigation and communication with the hotel management and interior design team, we have determined that the stretched ceiling lighting solution that combines stretched ceiling aluminum profiles, magnetic lamps and commercial lighting is the best choice to meet all these requirements.

- Magnetic stretched ceiling aluminum profiles: By integrating stretched aluminum materials with 48V low-voltage conductive guide rails, when fixing the stretched film, they can directly install magnetic lamps without tools, additional installation hardware or exposed wiring. The conductive guide rail is made of high-purity copper, ensuring stable power supply and safe use.
- Light strip stretched ceiling aluminum profiles: The stretched aluminum material is equipped with LED channels inside, matching the LED light strips to create soft ambient light. It is equipped with an optional mask to soften LED glare and ensure warm and comfortable lighting in the lobby.
- Wall stretched ceiling aluminum profiles: The aluminum groove design is suitable for PVC stretch film, ensuring the film is stretched tightly and seamlessly. Pre-drilled profiles for easy installation and shortened construction time. The surface is treated with an anodized matte white finish, matching the minimalist style of the hotel.
Magnetic lamps are the core of flexible lighting systems. They are perfectly combined with magnetic stretched ceiling aluminum profiles, allowing for tool-free adjustment, installation and replacement. We have selected three types of magnetic commercial lights (all 48V low voltage, LED light source, CRI≥90, ensuring accurate color display) :
- Magnetic spotlights (lobbies and conference halls) : 30W power, 24° narrow beam Angle, used to highlight artworks in lobbies, reception desks and projection screens in conference halls. The spotlights can slide along the magnetic contour, adjustable horizontally at 350° and vertically at 90°, allowing for flexible adjustment of the light direction to highlight key areas. The surface is matte black, echoing the high-end style of the lobby.
- Magnetic linear light (Guest rooms and corridors) : 20W power, 120° wide beam Angle - used for environmental lighting in guest rooms and corridors. The linear lamp is 1.2 meters long and can be connected end to end to cover the entire corridor, ensuring uniform lighting without any dark areas. In guest rooms, they are installed above the headboard and beside the desk, providing soft task lighting for reading and working. Guests can adjust the brightness and color temperature of the lights according to their own needs.
- Magnetic grille Lamp (Conference Hall) : 40W power, 45° medium beam Angle - Used as the main lighting in conference halls, providing bright and uniform light for meetings and events. The grille design avoids glare and protects guests' eyes during long meetings
In addition to magnetic lights, we added professional commercial lighting to supplement the layered lighting effect, ensuring each area’s lighting meets functional needs:
- Commercial LED downlights (Guest rooms and corridors) : 15W power, 3000K warm white light, anti-glare design, installed in guest rooms and corridors, providing soft ambient light. The downlights are installed flush with the ceiling to ensure no exposed hardware and maintain a seamless appearance.
- Commercial LED panel light (conference hall) : 40W power, 4000K neutral white light, installed on the ceiling of the conference hall, providing uniform and bright main lighting. Installed flush with the ceiling and matched with magnetic grille lamps, it creates layered lighting.
Project outcome: Exceeding expectations in aesthetics and operational efficiency
After the project was completed, the internal environment of the hotel was comprehensively improved, and the hotel management, staff and guests all gave high praise. The specific results are as follows
- Seamless connection, high-end space upgrade: The retractable ceiling completely conceals the original pipes, wires and uneven surfaces, creating a smooth and seamless ceiling effect, and creating a grand and high-end "luminous ceiling" effect, greatly enhancing the hotel's brand image.
- Flexible lighting: The combination of magnetic linear lights and commercial downlights meets the needs of different guests.
